What we collect, why we collect it, and how to stop us. In plain English.

Who we are

Card Machines Direct is a trading name of ORDUGH FOODS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (number 15815253), registered office 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX. ORDUGH FOODS LTD is responsible for (the "controller" of) the information collected on this site. Contact us about anything on this page at info@cardmachinesdirect.co.uk.

When you ask for a quote

We collect what you type into the quote form and any statement you upload. We use it only to work out and send your quote, and to follow up on it. Statements are stored securely with our hosting provider, are visible only to our team, and are deleted automatically 90 days after you send them, or sooner if you ask.

Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We never sell your details.

The calculator

The numbers you put into the calculator are sent to our server to work out the estimate. We count how the calculator is used, for example which takings band people choose, but we don't link that to your name unless you then ask for a quote.

Visit statistics

We count visits to understand which pages help and where people get stuck: where you arrived from (for example an email we sent), which pages and sections you viewed, how long for, and whether you asked for a quote. This uses a random ID stored in your browser. It isn't used for advertising and isn't shared. UK law allows a website to collect statistics like these about its own use, to improve the site, without asking first, as long as it explains what it does and lets you object easily. That's what this section and the button below are for. Visit statistics are deleted automatically after 730 days.

You can switch this off for this browser at any time:

Email campaign tracking

When we email business owners, our email software can record whether a link in that email led to a visit. That tracking code only runs on this site if you choose "That's fine" in the cookie message. If you said no, it doesn't load.

Cookies and browser storage

This site doesn't set its own cookies. It stores a few small items in your browser's local storage instead:

NameWhat it's forHow long
cmd-consentRemembers your answer to the cookie message.Until you clear it
cmd-vid, cmd-lastA random visitor ID and when you were last here, so repeat visits are counted once.Until you clear it
cmd-touchWhere your last visit came from (for example one of our emails), so a quote request can be credited to it. Only stored if you choose "That's fine".30 days
cmd-optoutRemembers that you've switched off visit counting.Until you clear it
cmd-sid, cmd-attribGroups the pages of one visit together. This browser session
cmd-calc, cmd-last-savingRemembers what you put in the calculator, so you don't have to type it again on the quote form. This browser session

Only if you choose "That's fine", we also load Google Analytics and our email platform's tracking code. These set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. If you choose "No thanks", they don't load at all.

Who else handles your information

  • Our hosting provider runs the website and stores quote requests, statements and visit statistics for us, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany (in the EU).
  • Our email provider delivers the notification we receive when you ask for a quote.
  • Google Analytics and our email platform only receive information if you choose "That's fine" in the cookie message.

They only use it to provide their service to us. We never sell your details.

How long we keep things

  • Uploaded statements: deleted automatically after 90 days.
  • Quote requests: kept for as long as we need them to deal with your quote and any follow-up. Ask us at any time and we'll delete them.
  • Visit statistics: deleted automatically after 730 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing info@cardmachinesdirect.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
